Fitting too, that it would be Sebring Silver

"Silver" Anniversary of great
service to the Corvette enthusiast and the Corvette hobby!
The next Corvette down the line, the first
completed
model year 2000 C5,
the first 2000 C5
( drum roll please! ) was a Millennium
Yellow C5
Convertible (6-speed) with Black standard seats, a Black Top and HIGH

We received word today from Gary
Claudio, manager of the Chevrolet Race Shop,
that the Corvette C5R will be racing on
July 25 at Sears Point in Sonoma, CA. This
is a Chevrolet sponsored track so we will pretty much have run of the
place! We will have a Corvette Corral and
most likely a parade lap. At this time, Chevy is putting together, in
conjunction with the track, a special C5 Registry
race ticket package. As soon as I receive additional information, it
will be posted to the C5 Net. Most
likely, because of the late date, we will not have a Registry hotel or
dinner.

HIGH POLISHED WHEELS NOT
AVAILABLE UNTIL AUGUST!
We have just received from several of our
member dealers an administrative message from GM dated 6/01/99. This
message reads "due to Corvette Plant Start-up restrictions, the QF5
(High Polished Aluminum) Wheel will not be available until mid August.
All orders with QF5 will be CHANGED to the QD4 (Base Aluminum)
Wheel." Pretty disturbing news for the first group of 2000 model
year C5 owners-to-be who thought the C5
of their dreams would include High Polished Wheels (QF5)!
There has been so much talk about the
High Polished Wheels, it’s hard to believe that anyone could misjudge
the demand this option would create. Based on all the discussion at the
Birthday Bash and since, we knew that the initial request for High
Polished Wheels (QF5) would be at least 65-70% of dealer orders.
If you have yet to place your order for a
2000 C5 and want the High Polished Wheels
(QF5), our recommendation to you is to keep in touch with your dealer
until this constraint is removed.

You are in luck if
you ordered a Millennium
Yellow 2000 C5. They
will be the first cars preferenced and delivered. It seems as though
Chevrolet wants to get that color out to the public as soon as possible.
So while Magnetic
Red-II (86U) may have
a 30 day hold on it (while they improve the formula - rumor says's a
slightly darker color), Millennium
Yellow (79U) is wide
open, and those orders in the order bank should be moving quickly. Contrary
to dealer information, Head
Up Display (UV6) is
not on constraint. For additional updates, see our Model
2000 page [

We were told by Heather the Senior
Manager of the Comfort Suites at Carlisle
that they will not hold rooms for use because another Registry
group has offered to pay for all their room up front- I think this
stinks-. If you are planning on attending Carlisle call the Comfort
Suites at 1-800-704-1188
ASAP ask for Sue Hoke to book your
room. We are stalling the hotel as long as we can but if you call now
you will get a room. Make sure you say you are with the C5
Registry. You might mention to them that we do not have to do
this with any other Hotel/Motel we deal with and it is not a good way to
do business....The problem we now have is that it is too late to find
another place. So please everyone call this hotel as soon as possible
and take the rooms we have set aside for the C5
Registry before they are gone or
given away to another group....When you call ask
for Sue Hoke and the number is 1-800-704-1188
and fax is 1-717-960-1010.....We have 45 rooms available as of
today so lets get them booked up before they can be given away. The
dates for Carlisle are August 27-29....Thanks.......Dan

Just a quick note regarding the Corvette
pace cars. You'll soon receive a U.S. press release formally announcing
that Chevrolet will provide Corvette
safety cars (pace cars) for the 24
hours of LeMans. The two hardtop pace
cars were flown to France for the race. Additionally, we have three Corvette
coupes from Europe that will also be used as safety cars. We have
installed specific exterior flashers that meet the requirements of the Automobile
Club De L'Ouest (A.C.O.), the race sanctioning body. [Click

As you know, we sell Corvettes around the
world. This pace car partnership will provide exceptional international
exposure for America's Performance icon. The 24
hours of LeMans has a special history, rich heritage and
traditions. We are proud to be part of the 1999 race. The race will be
held June 12 - 13, 1999. Jim Campbell

If you have a late production 1999 C5
on order, and have the Air Conditioning
system serviced in the future, you may want to tell the service center
to use the 2000 C5 specifications. Some
changes have been made in the 2000 model year which will show up in late
1999 production C5's.
Sources indicate a quieter system.

The passive keyless entry system may
be revised in the 2000 C5 Corvette. This
complicated system could evolve to a true Keyless
Entry by the year 2001.

On Sunday, April 18, at 400 pm, the Jet
Racing Team Red C5 #33, sponsored by
MHT, Neeper & NICHE Alloy Wheel, will
be racing in the SCCA Trans Am Race at Long Beach, right after the CART
race. They will be in the paddocks Friday, Saturday & Sunday. They
invite all Corvette enthusiasts, especially C5
enthusiasts, to stop by and see them. They will have lunch available for
any Sunday visitors at noon! Just ask for Henry and tell him you saw it
on the C5 Registry Web Page.
This Trans Am team represents one of
three C5s
that will be racing in the Trans Am series. They are really interested
in getting support from the Corvette community. If you live on the West
Coast, go by and show your support!
