CORVETTE MUSEUM DELIVERY
"RPO
R8C"
After
years of customers requesting to take delivery of their new Corvettes in
Bowling Green, Kentucky--"home of the Corvette"-General Motors
and the National Corvette Museum agreed "in house" delivery
was possible. We have joined together to create the Corvette Museum
Delivery.
The concept increases total customer enthusiasm by permitting a
customer, in one trip; to take delivery of his or her Corvette, tour the
Corvette Assembly Plant, and visit the Museum dedicated to the car's
heritage. When ordering a new Corvette, option R8C
identifies the unit as a Corvette Museum Delivery. The program is
limited to sold orders only and is a $490 option.
Following the production of the vehicle, it is shipped to a local
dealership for pre-delivery inspection, detailing, and fueling. The
customers Corvette is then delivered to the National Corvette Museum,
just across the street from the Corvette Assembly Plant, for
professional delivery and driver orientation. The customer arrives at
the Museum to a sign welcoming their visit and to view their Corvette on
display among some of the most famous vehicles ever built. The customer
is given a VIP tour of the Museum, and usually visits the Assembly Plant
for a regularly scheduled tour, as well.
To make the Museum-delivered vehicle more special, the customer is
presented with a specially designed Corvette Museum Delivery decal to be
placed on their Corvette's door jam. He also receives a free one-year
membership to the National Corvette Museum. A laser-engraved wood plaque
commemorating the vehicle's VIN and delivery date is ordered and shipped
to the selling dealer for presentation, concluding this unique and
special event.
The Corvette is the only vehicle in North America to offer this type
of delivery, - joining more expensive European luxury vehicles. The
person choosing option
places himself in a select group of Corvette owners.

NOTE:
On December 18, Les and Dale Goldman [C5R
#V0052]
drove their new 1998 red Corvette convertible to their home in Marlboro,
Massachusetts. The C5 is the Goldman's 8th Corvette; their other
assortment includes a '62, '64, '73,'77, '78, '79 and a '89 model. Les
purchased the car from Bud's Chevrolet in St. Mary's, Ohio, and by
pressing a few keys on his computer, joined the C5 Registry through the
Internet. The Goldman's moved back to the States in November after
spending over three years in Singapore. Les waited to buy the car
because he said in Singapore a left hand driven car wouldn't do any
good! |
