MEDIA ADVISORY: HUNDREDS OF HOT RODS RUMBLE INTO TOWN FOR THE FIFTH CHEVY HOT ROD MAGAZINE POWER TOUR

WHAT: The $2 million Chevrolet Nomad and Cadillac Steinmetz Catera concept cars will make rare appearances when the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour visits nine eastern American cities on its way from Fitchburg, MA, to Panama City, FL, October 9-17.

Other Chevrolet featured vehicles include a '55 Chevy powered by the LS1 Corvette engine, a 1999 T1 Corvette with amateur road racing components, a 1989 Camaro Z28 with a smog-legal engine conversion kit for 1982-87 Camaros and Firebirds, and a 1993 ASA Camaro that showcases a factory-built engine that will put the "stock" back into stock car racing in Y2K.

The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, conceived in 1994, is an annual cross-country trek of nearly 1,000 high performance vehicles. Nightly cruise-ins, sponsored by local car clubs, are expected to draw as many as 5,000 additional hot rods and spectators.

A bevy of "green machines," high performance automobiles that are environmentally friendly, are on the tour courtesy of sponsors and private owners.
