Gary F. Claudio Gary Claudio currently holds the position of Chevrolet Race Shop manager, a position he has held since December 1, 1997. He is responsible for managing all aspect of Chevrolet's racing programs for all brands. His duties include the coordination of teams, sponsors, sanctioning bodies, public relations, and marketing programs for Chevrolet Motorsports.His General Motors career began in 1997 in the New York field office as district service manager for Pontiac Division. Claudio soon moved to Columbia, S.C., where he continued as district service manager calling on dealerships from 1983-1985, then to Washington, D.C., where he was a district service consultant from 1985-1987 In 1987 Claudio was appointed motorsports coordinator for Pontiac in Detroit's central office, holding this position for two years before being named marketing manager, Cincinnati zone in 1989. In 1990 Claudio returned to the service side of GM's field operation as a deal service consultant in the Detroit zone before returning home to New York in 1993 to serve as metro dealer service manager for Pontiac. One year later Claudio was appointed motorsports manager for Pontiac where he quickly went to work on the GM division's racing programs. In three short years Claudio's visions began to take shape on the track showing marked improvements in performance in all series. As GM looked to the future, Claudio was named Chevrolet Race Shop manager, charged with steering the largest nameplate in motorsports into the next millennium, a task he looks forward to with much anticipation. Claudio earned a B.S. degree in economics from SUNY, New Palz, 1972. When he's not pursuing his favorite hobbies - driving his big-block 1967 Corvette and handgun target shooting - he volunteers his time as a Big Brother. |
