Chevrolet Makes Sales and Brand Management Appointments

DETROIT, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevrolet Motor Division has announced the following key executive changes for its headquarters and regional offices.

* Richard Almond, Jr., formerly Corvette and Camaro brand manager, has been appointed director of dealer organization and planning (Detroit, Mich.). He replaces Gerald M. Desmond, who is retiring after 40 years of loyal service to Chevrolet.

* James M. Campbell, currently regional manager - Kansas City for Pontiac - GMC, replaces Almond as Corvette and Camaro brand manager (Detroit, Mich.).

* Jay C. Allen, formerly Dallas zone manager, has been promoted to regional manager - southeast (Atlanta, Ga.).

* Brian E. Bowden, formerly St. Louis zone manager, has been promoted to regional manager - mid-Atlantic region (Charlotte, N.C.).

* Eldon D. Kibler, currently regional manager - mid-Atlantic region, has been appointed manager - motorsports marketing (Detroit, Mich.).

"I'd especially like to commend Dick Almond on his outstanding work in launching America's premiere sports car -- the fifth generation Corvette -- and Jerry Desmond for his 40 years of loyal service to Chevrolet. Dick will continue the work that Jerry began in strengthening Chevy's dealer network across the country."

Brief biographies of each of the appointees follow:

Richard Almond, Jr., since joining Chevrolet in 1971, has gained vast experience in Chevy's sales department. In recent years he was a district manager and zone business manager in the St. Louis zone (1985). He moved later that year to the planning department at Chevrolet central office as a senior staff assistant. Almond was appointed marketing center manager of the St. Louis and Dallas branches in 1987, branch manager of the Syracuse branch in 1988 and branch manager of the Tampa branch in 1991. He became regional manager of the eastern region two years later, and Corvette - Camaro brand manager in 1995, the position he held until his current assignment. Almond graduated from the University of Kansas and has completed the executive development program at Dartmouth University.

James M. Campbell joined General Motors' Pontiac Division in 1988 as a district sales manager in training. While at Pontiac, he was district manager - telemanagement (1989), metro district manager (1991) and manager - zone marketing and distribution (1993). Campbell's brand management experience includes a stint as assistant brand manager (1994) for Pontiac's popular Grand Am. He has also been regional manager, Kansas City (1997-98) for Pontiac - GMC, the assignment Campbell held until his current position. Campbell earned an M.A. at the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. at the University of Michigan.

Jay C. Allen joined Chevrolet in 1979. His experience includes various assignments in Chevrolet's sales organization. Allen's recent assignments include marketing staff assistant at Chevrolet Central Office in 1988 and regional truck manager in Dallas in 1993. He was appointed business development manager for General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Dallas zone, in 1995, and became the Chevrolet Dallas zone manager in 1996, the position Allen held until his current assignment. He is a graduate of Florida Southern College.

Brian E. Bowden joined Chevrolet in 1982. His assignments in Chevrolet's field sales organization include district manager - service (Jacksonville, Fla.) in 1986, and later area manager - service (1986-89) in Chevy's central office marketing center. Bowden remained at central office as a staff assistant - area marketing (1989-91) and distribution assistant (1991-93). He was regional distribution manager (1993-94) in Atlanta, and spent 1994 and 1995 in Michigan as an administrator of North American Operations information management. Bowden became St. Louis zone manager in 1995, the post he held until his current assignment. He earned a B.A. at Indiana University.

Eldon D. Kibler joined Chevrolet in 1960. He held various central office positions at Chevrolet before becoming assistant zone manager - service in the Jacksonville zone (1976) and assistant zone manager in the Atlanta zone (1977). Kibler has been Peoria zone manager (1983) and Kansas City zone manager (1985), and held a similar post in Chevrolet's Houston branch in 1987. He became Charlotte branch manager in 1992 and mid-Atlantic regional manager in 1993, the position he held until his current assignment. Kibler graduated from the University of Cincinnati.
