Road to the an Official
C5 Registry |
Bill Wolfe |
When Bill Wolfe (C5R#
W0309) placed an order on December 9th, 1997
at Woodfield Chevrolet in Schaumburg, IL for a 6-Speed 98 Corvette
Indy Pace Car Replica, little did he know that he would be forming the 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car Registry, a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Official
C5 Registry. Bill was using the Internet one evening and saw a posting from another person (Dick Bartlow C5R# W0546) on "Carls Corvette BBS" who had also ordered a 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car and expected his delivery about the same time as Bill, the end of February. After a few messages back-and-forth between them, it was decided that a 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car Registry on the Internet should be started and that they should also join the Official C5 Registry, now that they officially owned a C5.The 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car Registry began the evening of February 5th after Bills 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car arrived home and Bill got all his delivery pictures developed and scanned. The 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car Registry soon became a SIG (Special Interest Group) of the Official C5 Registry after Dan Adovasio, Director and Jake Drennon, Director spoke with Bill about the work he had done on the 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car Web Site (www.98indypace.com). Additionally, Dan Adovasio and Jake Drennon recruited Bill to be the Official C5 Registry Midwest Area Coordinator. As of the writing of this article, the 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car Registry has 60 registered members and cars only 1098 more to go! As they say, " The rest is history."Keep the Pace! and C5Ya!
